Tigers Earn 3-2 Win Versus Americans | Boston got a terrific performance from pitcher Carl Mays, but it wasn't enough to beat the Detroit Tigers. Detroit won the Fenway Park contest, 3-2. Mays threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The Americans fall to 6-7 and continue their wobbly start to the 1910 season.
The outcome might have been different for Detroit, had it not been for Dale Alexander, the 27-year old first baseman . Alexander stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put Detroit up, 3-2. For the game, he was 3 for 5, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said Boston manager Timothy Keene, "let me know." | | | | |
