| 5-Hit Blitz by Minnesota's Howard Sunday, August 28th , 1910 Larry Howard told the press after his 5-hit day, "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate. He wants to hit the ball hard."
Well, that's just what Howard of the Minnesota Twins did against the Chicago White Sox. He went to the plate 5 times and 5 times he delivered base hits, but his club still suffered a 8-4 defeat.
"Not much I can say," offered Howard in the postgame press conference. "I got a bunch of hits, but it would have been much better to get a win. Can I trade 5 hits for the win?"
Larry Howard hit an RBI double in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 7th and doubled in the 9th.
This season Howard is hitting .316 with 148 hits, 10 home runs, 79 RBIs, scored 37 runs and played in 116 games.
