| Triple Crown Award to Athletics Ace Friday, September 23rd , 1910 Few men in baseball history have won the pitching triple crown. Rube Waddell of the Philadelphia Athletics joined this elite company today when the season ended, officially making him the league leader in ERA, K's and wins.
Waddell put up a 20-8 record, an ERA of 2.75 and 261 strikeouts this season. He started 31 times, walked 88 and held opposing clubs to a .223 average.
