Tigers Stun Orioles, 6-4 | The Baltimore Orioles got a sterling performance from pitcher Dick Hall, but the Detroit Tigers still prevailed, 6-4. Hall threw 6.1 innings allowing 2 runs. The winner was Randy Jones, who threw 142 pitches over 8 innings. The left-hander was charged with 4 runs on 10 hits. Daniel Norris recorded his 6th save for Detroit.
Detroit used the timely hitting of Harry Heilmann to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Tigers on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Heilmann told the Detroit News.
The Orioles, 12-13, continue their so-so start to the 1910 season. | | | | |
