Giants Deal Cardinals 7-5 Defeat | Getting offensive support from John O'Rourke, the New York Giants topped the St. Louis Cardinals, 7-5. O'Rourke went 2-4 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the Giants. New York reliever Al Gerheauser was the winner. His record is now 1-2. The losing pitcher was Danny Cox. The 4th-place Giants go to 77-68.
New York used the timely hitting of Kevin Kiermaier to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Giants on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Winning never gets dull," said O'Rourke. | | | | |
