Tigers Lose at Home, 7-3, to Cleveland | A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Cleveland Blues and Detroit Tigers.
The Cleveland Blues topped the Detroit Tigers, 7-3, in AL action at Bennett Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Cleveland pitcher Addie Joss. Joss, now 14-13, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing 3 runs.
Cleveland relied on the hitting of Nap Lajoie to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Blues on top, 4-2. For the game, Lajoie had 1 home run and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"We'll put that win in the can," said Lajoie, "and go after the next one."
The 6th-place Blues improved to 70-79. | | | | |
