| Orioles Clip Americans, 3-2 | The Baltimore Orioles picked up a win at Memorial Stadium, courtesy of Mike Cuellar. The left-hander helped his team stop the Boston Americans, 3-2. The winning pitcher was Cuellar, now 5-3. He tossed 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 6. Gregg Olson, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 9th save.
Carl Crawford dealt the Americans a blow in the bottom of the fifth. Batting with a runner on 2nd and Baltimore leading 2-1, Crawford, who finished 5th in the AL in triples with 17 in 1908, hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single.
"We'll grab a cold beverage tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Cuellar said.
With the win, the Orioles improved to 24-29.
