Tigers Collect 5-4 Win Versus Chicago | The Detroit Tigers topped the Chicago White Sox, 5-4, in AL action at Comiskey Park. The standout performance belonged to Detroit pitcher and Monroe, Louisiana, native Chuck Finley. Finley went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 10 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. His record improves to 7-6. The current losing streak for Chicago has reached 4 games.
Detroit used the clutch hitting of Miguel Cabrera to snag the win. The third baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Tigers ahead, 5-3. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Chicago manager Jimmy Dykes said following the tough loss. | | | | |
