Cincinnati Defeats Chicago, 5-4 | Crowds lined up early in front of Wrigley Field, eagerly awaiting the start of the 1910 True Colors Baseball League season. On the mound was Doc Amole for the visiting Cincinnati Redlegs and Roy Welmaker for the hometown Chicago Cubs. In a spirited contest, the Redlegs pulled out the win, defeating the Cubs by the score of 5-4. Especially impressive was Joe Adcock. The winning pitcher was Doc Amole. He's now 1-0. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits for the Redlegs. Cardell Camper got credit for the save for Cincinnati. It was his 1st of the year.
Fred Carroll, the 30-year old catcher , had a direct impact on the outcome. Carroll contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put Cincinnati up, 3-0.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Chicago manager Mike Woodsum. "The effort was great." | | | | |
