Orioles Bridle White Sox, 3-1 | The Baltimore Orioles got a magnificent performance from pitcher Jim Palmer, who stifled the Chicago offense en route to a 3-1 Orioles win at Memorial Stadium. Baltimore, at 58-57, sits in third place in the AL.
Baltimore took a 2-1 lead on Cal Ripken Jr.'s 9th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Ripken Jr. hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Chicago pitcher George Suggs shaking his head.
