Razor-Sharp Carlson Blanks Boston | All went well for Hal Carlson of the Cleveland Blues as he pitched his team to a 4-0 shutout victory over the Boston Americans, limiting them to 8 hits. In the postgame interview, both managers had glowing things to say about Carlson on the day.
"Hal's got a good selection of pitches he can throw at a guy," said Blues manager Joel Mejiano. "He changes speed, gives different looks to different hitters. When he's on his game, he's quite a handful."
In the contest, the Cleveland right-hander rang up 10 and surrendered 1 walk.
"He didn't give us any second chances," said Americans manager Timothy Keene. "It's a guessing game with him and today we were always guessing wrong."
This year Carlson has a 1-4 mark in 5 starts with a 6.47 ERA. He has given up 51 hits in 40.1 innings, struck out 34 and issued 14 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .307 batting average against him. | | | | |
