| Yankees Deal Americans 5-3 Loss | Nolan Arenado made an impact in the 5-3 New York win over Boston. Arenado, who finished 5th in the AL in home runs with 23 in 1902, was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winning pitcher was Dave Stieb. He's now 3-2. He went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits for the Yankees. Getting the save was Joe Page, his 8th.
Wally Pipp, the slugging first baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Pipp contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put New York up, 5-3.
