Americans Sneak Past Yankees, 6-5 | Behind the hitting of Mookie Betts, the Boston Americans clipped the New York Yankees, 6-5. Betts went 1 for 1 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Americans. Boston reliever Nels Potter was the winner. His record is now 14-5. Joe Page took the loss. With the win over New York, the Americans improved to 73-77.
The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the ninth, with Boston trailing 5-4, Betts hit a fastball from Joe Page for a 2-run home run, giving the Americans the walk-off win.
