5 Straight Wins for Athletics
The Philadelphia Athletics and Minnesota Twins put on quite a show.

Al Simmons left his imprint on the 4-3 Philadelphia win against the Minnesota Twins. Simmons, who finished 2nd in the AL in slugging percentage with .562 in 1904, was 4-5 with a home run, 3 singles, and 2 walks. Kevin Rogers earned the save, his 1st.

Simmons had a game-changing home run in the top of the 14th. On a first pitch sinker from Geoff Zahn, he banged a solo home run to left, giving the Athletics a 4-3 lead. It was the 24th home run of the year for Simmons.

"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Minnesota manager Jeff Patterson.

Philadelphia is now 102-51.
