Cubs Walk Off with 6-5 Win
George Gore was a vital contributor to the 6-5 Chicago victory over Boston. The Cubs center fielder went 3-6 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Chicago reliever Aaron Bummer picked up the win to move to 2-0. Mike Minor suffered the loss. The NL-leading Cubs are 59-27.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Chicago third baseman Jim Doyle, facing Mike Minor, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Cubs the 6-5 win.

"We saved our best for last," said Gore.
