Twins Slip Past Philadelphia, 5-4 | The Minnesota Twins had to overcome a big game from Philadelphia first baseman Matt Olson to leave Shibe Park with a victory. And they did, winning 5-4. Olson was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Pete Dowling, the winning pitcher, is now 12-6. He went 8.2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits, while fanning 7 and walking 6. Glen Perkins locked down his 16th save.
Bill Robinson, the slugging third baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Robinson contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Minnesota up, 5-4.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Robinson.
Minnesota is now 54-57, while Philadelphia is 78-32. | | | | |
