Blues Lose to Yankees, 7-5 | The inspired effort of Cleveland shortstop Andy Leonard was not enough to prevent a loss, 7-5, to the New York Yankees. Leonard went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Joe Page, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 7th save. To call the performance of the 1910 Blues disappointing is an understatement.
With no one out in the bottom of the third, Wally Pipp barreled up a curveball from Hal Carlson. The result was a 2-run home run, putting the Yankees in front, 4-1.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," Pipp told the New York Daily News. | | | | |
