Doves Prevail, 5-3, Over Cincinnati | The Boston Doves trumped the Cincinnati Redlegs, 5-3, at Crosley Field. Boston catcher Jorge Posada was terrific. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. John Rocker finished the game for Boston and earned his 7th save. With the win, Boston raised its record to 18-14.
Boston relied on the hitting of John Lowenstein to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a solo home run in the top of the second inning to put the Doves on top, 2-0. For the game, Lowenstein had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
