| Athletics Sneak By Yankees, 4-3 | Philadelphia Athletics starter Lefty Grove was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the New York Yankees, 4-3. The save went to Sean Doolittle, number 6 for him. Philadelphia leads the AL by 10 games.
Philadelphia used the clutch hitting of George Springer to capture the win. The pinch hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Athletics ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a big one.
"I liked his command," said Philadelphia manager Charles Wolfson. "Lefty was throwing strikes."
