The New York Yankees went home winners at Yankee Stadium, thanks in large part to starter Dave Stieb. Stieb stifled the Baltimore Orioles, enabling New York to grab the 4-0 win. The 5th-place Yankees now have a win-loss record of 20-24.

Stieb, a native of Santa Ana, California, was dealing all game. He kept Baltimore hitters off-balance, while giving the Yankees 7.2 quality innings. Stieb threw 113 pitches, allowing 2 hits and striking out 7.

Stieb called the win "a team effort."
