Twins Clip Athletics 4-3 in LCS Contest | The Minnesota Twins nearly wasted a strong game from starter Steve Renko, but were saved by some timely hitting in a walk-off win over the Philadelphia Athletics today.
Renko threw 7.0 innings allowing 3 runs. The win allowed Minnesota to force a 2-2 tie in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.
Coming to the plate with two out in the bottom of the 11th inning, Minnesota shortstop Bob Hall had a chance to be the hero. Facing Philadelphia pitcher Sean Doolittle with runners on 1st and 3rd, Hall hit a run-scoring single.
"That was fun but I'll be happy with a nice, safe win next time," Minnesota manager Jeff Patterson said.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Sunday, October 3rd , 1909. | | | | |
