Phillies Drop Another One, 7-4 | In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.
The Pittsburgh Pirates relied on the hitting of third baseman Tommy Leach to stop the Philadelphia Phillies, 7-4. For the game, Leach hit 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Pittsburgh reliever Brian Fuentes picked up the win, raising his record to 1-3. Kevin Campbell was tagged with the loss.
Leach had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a full count fastball from Kevin Campbell, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Pirates a 5-3 lead. It was the 8th home run of the year for Leach.
"We'll savor this win," Leach told the Pittsburgh Observer, "then get ready for the next game."
