Blues Sneak Past Orioles, 5-4 | The Cleveland Blues downed the Baltimore Orioles, 5-4, at Memorial Stadium. Ted Savage led the way, going 3-for-5 for Cleveland. Cleveland reliever Irv Young picked up the win, upping his record to 3-6. Richard Bleier was saddled with the loss. After today's action, Cleveland sits at 38-54, while Baltimore falls to 47-44.
Cleveland used the timely hitting of Pete Coscarart to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put the Blues on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"This is a resilient bunch," said Cleveland manager Joel Mejiano. | | | | |
