Orioles Drop Yankees, 5-4 | Mickey Mantle did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the New York Yankees from losing, 5-4, to the Baltimore Orioles at Memorial Stadium. Mantle went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Baltimore reliever Richard Bleier picked up the win, raising his record to 5-3. Joe Page was tagged with the loss. With the victory, the Orioles upped their record to 56-56.
The fans who came in support of the Orioles were pleased with the outcome. It was what they had hoped for when they passed through the turnstiles at Memorial Stadium.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Baltimore manager Matt Reynolds. "It's usually not just one thing." | | | | |
