Yankees Edge Blues, 5-4
The New York Yankees racked up a win at Progressive Field, bumping off the Cleveland Blues, 5-4. Ray Keating, who started for New York, pitched effectively for his team. The Yankees, at 53-70, sit in last place in the AL.

New York used the timely hitting of Kid Elberfeld to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Yankees on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Ray was able to execute his pitches," said New York manager Dan Goodman. "Simple as that."
