Dodgers Run Win Streak to 9 | The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Boston Doves, 2-0, at Dodger Stadium. Starting pitcher Clem Labine was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. The winning pitcher was Labine, now 10-3. He tossed 6 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 3. Steve Howe earned the save, his 12th in 13 tries.
Mike Sharperson drove in one run for Los Angeles. The 29-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Kevin Ritz. It was his 9th RBI of the season.
Sharperson called the win the result of "everyone working in tandem."
The Dodgers, now 43-38, have won 9 in a row. | | | | |
