8 Straight Wins for Redlegs | The Cincinnati Redlegs took Philadelphia pitcher Rheal Cormier's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Citizens Bank Park. The final score had Cincinnati getting past the Phillies, 4-0. Cormier went 8 innings and allowed 3 runs, striking out 2. Cincinnati reliever Zane Smith picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Rheal Cormier shouldered the loss. The Phillies fall to 8-22 and continue their unimpressive start to the 1910 season.
Fred Carroll, the six-time All-Star , had a direct impact on the outcome. Carroll contributed a solo home run in the top of the first inning to put Cincinnati up, 1-0.
"We're in a marathon, not a sprint," said Carroll. "But I like how we're playing right now." | | | | |
