Great Day for Griffin -- 5 Hits | Today at Dodger Stadium, Mike Griffin put on an impressive display.
The Los Angeles Dodgers center fielder tagged Cincinnati pitching for 5 hits in 6 at-bats, but his teammates were unable to capitalize on the spree and lost the game to the Cincinnati Redlegs by the score of 16-11.
"The loss takes some of the joy out of it, but I'll take it," Griffin said. "5-for-6 ain't bad in any league."
Despite the terrific performance, the Dodgers manager was unwilling to offer the center fielder much praise, saying the "whole roster" is held accountable for losses.
"Mike told me 'Coach, I had 5 hits' and I said 'Well that's great, but it looks like we needed one more from you,'" manager Jon Pessano said.
Mike Griffin singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Bill Steen in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and struck out in the 9th.
Griffin is currently batting .305 with 4 home runs, 24 RBIs and 17 runs scored. He has 43 hits in 141 at-bats. | | | | |
