Doves Mow Down Dodgers, 9-4 | The Boston Doves got their 1910 True Colors Baseball League season off to a good start, defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers, 9-4. Joe Sullivan set the pace. He was 2-5 with a home run, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. Dave Danforth, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings.
Sullivan contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Boston in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 2-0, Sullivan took a sinker from Adonis Terry and stroked the home run to center. His 1st home run of the season allowed the Doves to leap in front, 4-2.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Sullivan said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing." | | | | |
